wake me up...

OK, now that we've gotten that out of our systems...

E3H: We spent today discussing the art quotes and we reached all the way to the final three (the Dutch airline trio: KLM).  We will finish those off tomorrow and then, in pods, explore what all of this tells us about art in connection to your own reactions to it: how does it move you (or not) and why (or why not)?  In a full class discussion, we will try to put some finishing touches to this conversation and its ramifications on our "what is art?" question, and then you'll be exploring these quotes in a short essay (graded this time).

E2CP:  Tonight you should HL in your book passages from "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" that point to the foreshadowing of the ending of the story in anticipation of a discussion tomorrow and a short essay (graded) about the author's technique.

CW: Guess what?  You won't be having class tomorrow!  There's a counselor seminar during this period.  So you will have an extra day to do the following assignment: Two options: Take a short (15-20 minutes) walk in a very familiar place, keeping your sense open for things you may never have noticed before; or sit for 15-20 minutes in a very familiar place (not private), observing everything that happens around you and the people who pass by.  When you have completed this, write down what you have seen/sensed during this time but try to provide it with a context and/or an attitude.
